The Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KWSUBEB), finalized the recruitment of 1,811 new staff members to enhance basic education across the state.

According to a statement released on Tuesday in Ilorin by the board’s Press Secretary, Aminat Atere, the successful candidates were selected from a pool of 55,713 applicants.

“The breakdown includes 1,500 teaching staff, predominantly in STEM subjects, and 311 non-teaching staff, comprising drivers, security personnel, and office assistants, to serve schools in the 16 local government areas of the state,” the statement revealed.

The statement further noted that successful candidates with valid contact information have been notified to collect their appointment letters.

Documentation began on Monday, January 6, with candidates from Kwara North.

On Tuesday, January 7, documentation was conducted for recruits from Kwara South, while Wednesday, January 8, is scheduled for candidates from Kwara Central.

KWSUBEB Chairman, Prof. Sheu Adaramaja, emphasized the board’s commitment to addressing the unique needs of rural communities by hiring personnel willing to remain in their assigned locations.

“This underscores why the board prioritized nominations of competent and qualified candidates from rural areas to bridge the manpower gap in underserved regions,” Adaramaja stated.

The recruitment drive is part of the state government’s efforts to strengthen the education sector and ensure equitable distribution of educational resources across Kwara State.
