Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, authorized a reduction in official working hours for civil servants during the month of Ramadan.
This decision aims to accommodate the fasting period and ensure a balance between work and religious observance.
A statement issued on Monday and signed by the state Commissioner for Establishment, Pension, and Training, Awwal Dogondaji, confirmed the change.
The statement was made available to journalists in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.
This move follows the government’s earlier directive last week, which required both public and private schools to conclude their second term by Friday, allowing Muslim faithful to fully participate in the fasting season.
The new working hours, according to the commissioner, will be from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, with Friday’s workday reduced to 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
The commissioner also noted that normal working hours would resume after Ramadan.
Additionally, Dogondaji urged the public to remain steadfast in prayer, emphasizing the importance of peace and stability in both Kebbi State and Nigeria as a whole.
