A member of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Joshua Olusanya, has made history by setting a Guinness World Record for the longest marathon playing of a trumpet. Olusanya achieved the remarkable feat by playing the trumpet continuously for 25 hours, 30 minutes, and 36 seconds in Lagos on May 9, 2025.
Sharing his testimony during the July edition of MFM’s Power Must Change Hands programme held at the church’s Prayer City on Saturday, July 5, Olusanya recounted his journey to the record.
He revealed that his first attempt last year was unsuccessful due to a technical error, despite months of intense preparation.
“I was heartbroken,” he said. “It was painful for me, seeing the amount of effort I put into it, only to be disqualified. However, I was not discouraged.”
Determined to try again, Olusanya sought spiritual counsel from MFM General Overseer, Dr. Daniel Olukoya.
“Our father in the Lord instructed me to cut off my dreads before attempting again. That was one of the toughest decisions I’ve had to make in my life,” he said.
“I consulted my parents, and they said, ‘For your spiritual victory, obey our daddy in the Lord.’ After days of reflection, I obeyed. I cut my dreads and returned to Dr. Olukoya, who prayed for me.”
That night, Olusanya had a revelatory dream.
“I experienced a mighty deliverance in the dream. It felt like I had been broken out of bondage. Amazingly, the very next day, companies that had rejected my sponsorship proposals began reaching out to support me,” he said.
Encouraged by this turn of events, he attempted the record again — this time with renewed faith and divine backing.
“This time, I believe God was truly involved. The first attempt was all about my efforts, but this one, I put God first.”
“A few days before the attempt, I asked Dr. Olukoya to pray for me again. During the performance, I experienced divine strength,” he said. “Even after 25 hours and 30 minutes, I still had energy to continue. I didn’t even know where the strength was coming from.”
Following the performance, he began the meticulous process of submitting the evidence to the Guinness World Records.
“I insisted on uploading the evidence myself. I didn’t want any errors. I remembered that a year ago, I was in the same office, uploading the previous attempt that got disqualified. I was nervous,” he recalled.
“I called our father in the Lord and said, ‘Daddy, I’m at it again. I’ve finished uploading, but I’m afraid of being disqualified again.’ I told him I had put three years into this. Daddy told me, ‘Affliction will never rise again. Don’t be afraid, keep loading the evidence,’ and he prayed for me.”
Three days later, he received the long-awaited confirmation.
“When I saw the word approved in the email from Guinness World Records, my heart skipped a beat. I knew that was it. Now, I believe with God, all things are possible,” he said joyfully.
He went on to thank Dr. Olukoya for his spiritual leadership and support throughout the journey.
“I stand before you today to appreciate God and our father in the Lord. I am so honoured by his guidance, prayers, and commitment. To the glory of God, I am officially the first holder of the Guinness World Record in this category,” he declared before the congregation.
“I brought the Guinness World Records certificate to dedicate it to God and to our father in the Lord. This achievement is for the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries.”
Olusanya concluded by announcing his intention to present the certificate to Dr. Olukoya and his wife as a token of appreciation.
“To honour our daddy and mummy in the Lord, I officially requested an additional certificate from Guinness World Records. I am pleased and honoured to present this award to them.”
