The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is scheduled to conduct a mock accreditation exercise on Wednesday, November 6, as part of the preparations for the governorship election in Ondo State on November 16.
This exercise will take place in 12 selected polling units across six local government areas representing the three Senatorial zones of the state.
S. Olumekun, the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, stated that the exercise aims to assess the Commission’s readiness for the upcoming election.
He noted, “In continuation of preparations for the Ondo State Governorship Election holding on Saturday 16th November 2024, the Commission is test-running the deployment of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and result upload to the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal for the election using live voters in select locations in the State.”
The designated polling units for the mock accreditation are as follows:
In the Ondo Central Senatorial District, the exercise will occur in Akure South and Idanre local government areas (LGAs).
In Akure South, the centers will be Alagbaka Primary School and Ijapo High School, while in Idanre, the venues include Our Saviour Primary School, Aiyetoro/Owena I, and an open space in front of Plot 6, beside the Teaching Service Commission, Owena.
For Ondo North Senatorial District, the exercise will take place in Owo and Akoko South West LGAs.
In Owo, the Methodist Primary School on Fajuyi Road and Imade College Gate on Ajaka Street I will serve as centers.
In Akoko South West, the open space at Ago Ajayi, Oba, and L.A. Primary School, Oba, have been designated for the exercise.
In Ondo South Senatorial District, the exercise will cover Odigbo and Okitipupa LGAs.
In Odigbo, the selected locations are St. John’s Primary School in Ajue and Isero Grammar School, Odigbo.
In Okitipupa, the open space at Oladipupo Lebi Street, near Zhomelo Lodge, and Baptist Primary School in Ode Aye will serve as centers.
The mock exercise will run from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM on November 6.
A graphic detailing the names and locations of the centers has been uploaded to the INEC website and its social media platforms for public awareness.
The Commission urges registered voters to participate by bringing their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to the exercise.
It is important to note that only registered voters assigned to the designated polling units are invited to take part; voters from other units will not be accredited by the BVAS.
