Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy has pledged his commitment to work alongside newly appointed manager Ruben Amorim, putting aside earlier speculations that he might take over the head coach role after Erik Ten Hag’s dismissal.
Van Nistelrooy confirmed his dedication in a post on Fabrizio Romano’s X handle on Sunday, stating, “Staying here with Amorim? I’m here to help.” He added, “Manchester United would be the only job I would take as an assistant. I have to say, I really enjoyed the role.”
Reflecting on his pride in serving as assistant manager, he said, “I committed myself to the role of assistant manager, and I did it with great pride.”
The former United striker has already made an impact in his caretaker role, leading the team to a decisive 5-2 victory over Leicester in the League Cup on Wednesday, securing a place in the quarter-finals.
Van Nistelrooy, who joined the Red Devils last summer, will continue in his supporting role as Manchester United, currently 13th in the Premier League standings, prepares to face Chelsea on Sunday.
