The Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, on Tuesday hosted a high-level delegation from Business Sweden at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja to deepen discussions on renewable energy investment.
The delegation, which included Deputy CEO Johan Snellman, Trade Commissioner Marlena Batist Hager, and Ida Littorin, engaged ECN officials on advancing financing arrangements for the Nigeria Integrated Renewable Energy Hub (NIREH).

The meeting centred on strategies to mobilise funding for the project, a strategic public-private partnership anchored by ECN and designed to strengthen Nigeria’s renewable energy capacity.
According to discussions at the meeting, the initiative is structured to leverage Swedish export credit guarantees through EKN, alongside financing support from SEK.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration, with the engagement seen as a significant step towards accelerating Nigeria’s energy transition and expanding sustainable power infrastructure under ongoing energy sector reforms.
