Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, announced that N18 billion has been disbursed as compensation to individuals impacted by the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project, significantly surpassing the initially allocated N8 billion for this purpose.
Umahi made this disclosure during a stakeholder consultative meeting with affected property owners along Section One of the 700 km highway project in Lagos on Sunday. He emphasized that despite the petitions received, the planned diversion at KM 15 will move forward as scheduled.
The minister praised President Bola Tinubu for spearheading the project, stating, “No head of state has considered it in the past 48 years.” He also underscored the president’s dedication to completing vital projects, including those in Ogun and Lagos States, by 2025.
Umahi attributed President Tinubu’s emphasis on return on investments to his background in the private sector.
