Motorists and commuters are left stranded in a massive traffic jam on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which has persisted since Wednesday night.

The gridlock stretches across several sections of the road heading out of Lagos, including the Kara, Opic, and Long Bridge areas.

Reports indicate that the traffic congestion was triggered by an accident, compounded by multiple vehicle breakdowns along this stretch of the highway.

Additionally, ongoing maintenance work on the Long Bridge has led to a diversion, further exacerbating the situation.

Traffic is severely impacted from Berger to Kara and continues all the way down to Long Bridge, forcing many to arrive late to work on Thursday.

This major gridlock has created significant challenges for commuters trying to leave Lagos, and has also affected those traveling into the city.

In an attempt to bypass the jam, several outbound motorists have begun using the inbound lanes.
