Security was visibly heightened on Monday at Wadata Plaza, the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja, as heavily armed police officers were deployed ahead of the party’s crucial National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.
Eyewitnesses reported a significant police presence around the premises, with officers cordoning off Dalaba Street—the main access road leading to the PDP secretariat.
A senior party official, who spoke to Channels Television on condition of anonymity, alleged that the security deployment was aimed at preventing a planned Expanded Caucus Meeting from taking place.
Despite the security clampdown, some PDP staff members were allowed entry into the building without confrontation.
The situation remains fluid as more developments are expected ahead of the NEC session.
