Social media personality Okuneye Idris, known as Bobrisky, was removed from a KLM flight to Amsterdam and detained by immigration officers late Thursday night as he attempted to leave Nigeria.

Bobrisky informed his followers of the incident on Instagram, claiming he sustained injuries during an altercation with immigration authorities. “Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me.

I’m badly injured,” he posted, alleging that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was responsible for his detention.

This is not Bobrisky’s first attempt to leave the country under scrutiny. On October 22, he was reportedly intercepted at the Sème border while allegedly attempting to flee Nigeria.

The controversy surrounding Bobrisky began earlier this year; in April 2024, he was sentenced to six months in prison by the Federal High Court in Lagos on charges of naira abuse.

Although initially incarcerated at Kirikiri Prison, reports emerged that he spent only three weeks in custody before being discreetly transferred to a private location.

This fueled public speculation that his early release and privileged treatment were facilitated through alleged bribery, with accusations that he paid ₦15 million to secure special conditions.

The situation escalated further in late September when social media influencer VeryDarkMan released an audio clip allegedly featuring Bobrisky.

In the recording, Bobrisky reportedly claimed that music artist Falz and his father, human rights lawyer Femi Falana, approached him during his imprisonment, requesting ₦10 million to facilitate a presidential pardon. On October 16, 2024, Falana and Falz
