The House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee investigating the alleged Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) is set to question the Accountant-General of the Federation, Shamseldeen Ogunjimi, over the controversial ₦1.32 billion allocation made to the purported agency in the 2026 Appropriation Act. The Federal Government has maintained that the PFIPC has no legal existence.

The committee, chaired by Rep. Yusuf Gagdi, is probing how the alleged agency secured office accommodation at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja and obtained a government budget code, enabling it to be captured in the national budget despite lacking any legal backing.

Lawmakers are expected to seek explanations from the Accountant-General on the budgetary and financial processes that led to the inclusion of the PFIPC in the 2026 budget.

The hearing follows earlier testimonies from the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, the Director of Banking Services at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Abdullahi Hamisu, and the Director-General of the Budget Office, Tanimu Yakubu, as the committee continues to unravel how the alleged agency operated within government structures.

The investigation gained further prominence after the arrest of Adeniyi Adeyemi, who allegedly presented himself as the PFIPC’s Director-General and claimed he paid ₦400 million through an intermediary to the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, to secure the appointment. The Presidency and Gbajabiamila have denied any connection to Adeyemi, describing him as an impostor and distancing themselves from the alleged agency.

In addition to the Accountant-General, the committee is expected to hear from several senior government officials, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu; the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy; and the Attorney-General of the Federation as the probe continues.
