The United States has carried out a seventh consecutive night of military strikes against Iran, while Tehran responded with fresh missile and drone attacks targeting military installations hosting US forces across the Gulf, marking a further escalation in the renewed conflict between the two countries.
The latest offensive, conducted by the US Central Command (CENTCOM), targeted Iranian surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage facilities and maritime capabilities.
In a statement posted on X, CENTCOM said the strikes were “designed to continue degrading Iranian military capabilities at the Commander in Chief’s direction.”
According to the US military, fighter aircraft, drones, warships and other military assets were deployed during the operation, which concluded late Friday.
Iran, in retaliation, announced attacks on military sites in Bahrain and Kuwait that host US forces, including the Ali Al Salem Air Base and Sheikh Isa Air Base. Iranian officials said the strikes were part of a broader response to the continued US offensive, although the full extent of the damage has not been independently verified.
The renewed hostilities come weeks after a ceasefire agreement between Washington and Tehran collapsed, triggering a fresh cycle of military exchanges that has heightened tensions across the Middle East.
The conflict has also intensified concerns over the security of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil shipping route, with attacks on military and maritime infrastructure fuelling fears of wider regional instability and disruptions to energy supplies. Oil prices rose sharply as markets reacted to the latest escalation.
Despite growing international calls for restraint, neither side has indicated any willingness to scale back military operations, raising concerns that the confrontation could evolve into a broader regional conflict.
