The Nigerian Navy has commissioned a 35,000-litre elevated water storage tank, an industrial solar-powered borehole, and an extensive water reticulation system in Muye community, Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State, to improve residents’ access to clean and potable water.
The project, inaugurated on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, was executed under the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Special Intervention Quick Impact Project. It was undertaken in honour of the Commandant of the Naval War College Nigeria (NWCN), Rear Admiral Mohammed Adamu Muye, as part of the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to community development and its efforts to give back to his hometown.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Rear Admiral Muye, who also served as the project facilitator, expressed appreciation to the Chief of the Naval Staff for providing him with the opportunity to facilitate a project that would have a lasting impact on the community.
He described the initiative as “more than the provision of critical infrastructure,” adding that it “represents hope, dignity and an improved quality of life for the people of Muye.”
Rear Admiral Muye also urged community leaders and residents to protect the facility from vandalism and establish effective maintenance mechanisms to guarantee its long-term sustainability.
He stressed that preserving the infrastructure would ensure it continues to serve the people of Muye and benefit future generations.
