The Kebbi State Government has dissolved the Governing Council of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology Aliero (AFUSTA) and relieved the Vice-Chancellor, along with two Deputy Vice-Chancellors, of their appointments.
The affected deputy vice-chancellors are those overseeing Academics and Administration.
The decision followed the State Executive Council’s consideration of recommendations from a visitation panel established to review the affairs of the institution.
According to a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Yakubu Bala-Tafida, the council approved the dissolution based on the panel’s findings.
The statement further disclosed that the university’s Registrar and Bursar have also been removed, while the appointment of Abba Muhammad Adua has been terminated.
In a move to stabilise the institution, the government appointed Samaila Arzika Mungadi as Sole Administrator, with a mandate to restore governance and academic integrity.
He is expected to oversee the university’s operations pending the reconstitution of a new governing council and the appointment of principal officers.
The government said the changes take immediate effect from April 30, 2026.
It also commended members of the visitation panel for what it described as a thorough review that informed the council’s decision.
