President Bola Tinubu has reiterated Nigeria’s support for Gulf countries affected by the ongoing tensions arising from the United States–Israel conflict with Iran, stressing the nation’s commitment to global peace and stability.
The President gave the assurance on Thursday at the State House in Abuja while receiving Letters of Credence from newly appointed ambassadors and high commissioners, including envoys from Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
Tinubu commended the affected nations for their resilience and restraint in the face of recent attacks linked to the conflict, noting that Nigeria stands in solidarity with countries in the region.
“Let me first of all congratulate all of you and use this opportunity to say that the Federal Republic of Nigeria expresses its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Kuwait, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in the face of the recent attacks and say that we will always strive for peace and stability across the world,” he said.
He emphasised the need for global harmony, adding, “The world needs tranquillity, peace, and love. We share that solidarity with all of you in that region.”
During the ceremony, the President also highlighted Nigeria’s foreign policy direction, noting that the country would continue to collaborate with international partners in promoting peace both within Africa and globally.
He further described the presentation of credentials by the envoys as a milestone in strengthening diplomatic relations, expressing Nigeria’s readiness to deepen ties for mutual prosperity and progress.
