The Federal Government has filed a 13-count charge bordering on treason against a group of individuals accused of plotting a coup against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.The charges were lodged before the Federal High Court in Abuja, naming six suspects allegedly linked to the plot.
Among those listed are a retired major general, a retired naval captain, a serving police inspector, and three other individuals, reflecting what authorities describe as a coordinated attempt involving both former and serving security personnel.Details of the charges indicate that the accused persons are being prosecuted for offences related to alleged plans to unlawfully overthrow the government.
While further specifics of the case are yet to be fully disclosed in court, the filing marks a significant escalation in the government’s response to the alleged conspiracy.The case is expected to proceed in the coming days as the court begins consideration of the charges.
