At least four persons are feared dead following fresh attacks by suspected bandits on communities in Kebbi State.
The assailants reportedly stormed the affected areas on Saturday, unleashing violence on residents and leaving several others injured, according to local sources.
Witnesses said the attackers invaded the community in large numbers, firing sporadically and causing panic among villagers, many of whom fled for safety.
Sources indicated that the attack occurred in Kanya village in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, although details surrounding the incident remain sketchy as of the time of reporting.
As of press time, there had been no official statement from the police authorities confirming the casualty figures or providing further details on the incident.
The latest assault adds to a growing list of violent attacks in Kebbi and other parts of northwestern Nigeria, where banditry has continued to pose significant security challenges.
Residents have repeatedly raised concerns over the frequency of such attacks, calling for increased security presence and swift intervention by authorities to prevent further loss of lives.
Security agencies are yet to provide updates on efforts to apprehend the perpetrators or restore calm in the affected communities.
