Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, was on Tuesday arraigned before the Federal High Court in Kaduna over alleged corruption-related offences filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
El-Rufai was brought to the court premises at about 9:00 a.m. in a Toyota Hilux vehicle by security operatives and remained inside the vehicle for approximately 25 minutes before being escorted into the courtroom shortly after.
Dressed in a light green babanriga with a matching cap, the former governor appeared calm as he was led into the court under tight security.
A heavy security presence was observed around the court premises and along the busy Anguwan Sarki–Kawo axis, with operatives forming a protective cordon as he was ushered into the courtroom.
Journalists were, however, granted access to cover the proceedings.
Also present in court were El-Rufai’s two wives and his son, Bello El-Rufai, who represents Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
