Lionel Messi reached a historic milestone on Wednesday night, scoring the 900th goal of his illustrious career, but it was not enough to prevent Inter Miami CF from crashing out of the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

The Argentine forward struck early in the encounter, netting in the seventh minute of the Round of 16 second-leg clash against Nashville SC.

The goal marked a major milestone in Messi’s career, making him only the second male footballer to reach 900 career goals, further cementing his status among the sport’s all-time greats.

Despite the early breakthrough, Inter Miami failed to secure progression in the competition. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with Nashville equalising in the second half.

With the tie level on aggregate, Nashville advanced on the away-goals rule, eliminating the Major League Soccer side from the tournament.

Messi’s landmark goal, however, remained the highlight of the night, achieved with a composed finish inside the box—typical of a career that has spanned more than two decades at the highest level.

Inter Miami’s exit means their continental campaign ends at the Round of 16 stage, despite high expectations following their recent domestic success.
