The Abia State Police Command has arrested seven suspects for unlawful possession of firearms in separate operations carried out between January 31 and February 11, 2026.

The command’s spokesperson, Maureen Chinaka, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, identifying the suspects as Chima George, Chukwu Emeka Goodluck, Julius Emenike, Chika James, Richard Wisdom, Stephen Chinonso and Chinonso Tom.

According to the police, “Leveraging on actionable intelligence, operatives of the Command’s Anti-Cultism Unit apprehended the above-mentioned suspects between 31/01/2026 and 11/02/2026 and recovered from them five (5) locally made pistols, seven (7) cartridges, one (1) toy pistol, two (2) yellow berets of the Black Axe Confraternity and a Maxmech furniture screw machine.”

The command said the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Abia State Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, urged residents to support ongoing security efforts by providing timely and credible information. He called on members of the public to report suspicious movements and activities to the nearest police station.

The police reiterated their commitment to tackling illegal arms proliferation and criminal activities across the state.
