The Senator representing Niger North and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Distinguished Senator Abubakar Sani Bello, on Thursday represented Col. Sani Bello, the Grand Patron of the Kaima Smart City project, at the groundbreaking ceremony marking the commencement of the multi-billion-dollar Kaima Smart City development in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Speaking at the historic event, Senator Sani Bello conveyed the Grand Patron’s deep regret at his inability to attend the ceremony in person, offering heartfelt apologies while stressing the significance of the occasion to the future development of the region. He also congratulated Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, on the successful rescue and return of the 172 abducted Kurmin Wali captives, describing the development as one that brought widespread relief and joy across the state and beyond.

On behalf of Col. Sani Bello, the senator expressed appreciation to the Kaduna State Government for its consistent support and strategic partnership in advancing the Kaima Smart City vision. He reaffirmed the Grand Patron’s commitment to championing the project at all levels, assuring the governor and stakeholders of his readiness to deploy all necessary resources to ensure the project’s success and long-term impact.



Senator Sani Bello noted that the Kaima Smart City project is expected to drive transformative development in Kagarko Local Government, citing its strategic proximity to Abuja as a major advantage that would unlock increased socio-economic activities and deliver substantial benefits to host communities.
In his remarks, Governor Uba Sani reiterated the Kaduna State Government’s firm commitment to the success and sustainability of the Kaima Smart City initiative, describing it as a bold and strategic project capable of ushering the state into a new era of smart and inclusive development.
The governor said the project is expected to attract significant local and foreign investments, generate direct and indirect employment opportunities, and position Kaduna State as a regional hub for innovation, the digital economy and sustainable urban living. He added that Kaima Smart City is designed not only to benefit Kaduna State but also to serve as a model for visionary urban development across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Kaima Smart City is a master-planned urban development initiative designed to promote economic growth, social inclusion and environmental sustainability. Strategically located in Kagarko Local Government Area near Abuja, the city is envisioned as a dynamic hub for innovation, connectivity and future-ready living, offering opportunities for citizens, investors and communities across Nigeria and the wider African continent.
