Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved the dissolution of the State Executive Council, effectively ending the tenure of commissioners and other political appointees in his administration.
The dissolution, which takes immediate effect, was announced in a statement issued by the state government. Affected officials have been directed to hand over their responsibilities to permanent secretaries in their respective ministries to ensure continuity in governance.
According to the government, the move is part of ongoing efforts to reposition the administration and allow for restructuring within the executive arm. It also creates room for political appointees who may wish to pursue other opportunities within the political space.
The governor expressed appreciation to members of the outgoing cabinet for their service, acknowledging their contributions to the development of the state during their time in office. He wished them well in their future endeavours.
The development is expected to pave the way for the reconstitution of the cabinet, as the administration prepares for the next phase of governance in the state.
