Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has stated that he is not in a position to oppose the potential re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Speaking during a recent engagement, Otti emphasized that decisions regarding presidential candidacy are primarily the responsibility of political parties and the electorate, rather than individual officeholders. He noted that while political opinions may vary, it is ultimately up to Nigerians to determine their preferred leadership through the democratic process.
The governor reiterated his focus on governance in Abia State, stressing that his priority remains delivering on his mandate rather than engaging in premature political debates about the 2027 general elections.
Otti’s remarks come amid increasing political discussions and alignments ahead of the next electoral cycle, with stakeholders across the country beginning to weigh in on possible contenders and party strategies.
While he did not explicitly endorse President Tinubu, Otti’s comments suggest a cautious and non-confrontational stance, underscoring respect for institutional processes and the will of the people.
